2020 Gala Honoree Viola Davis
The 2020 Girl Be Heard Gala: Together We Rise brought together individuals and groups from cities around the world for an energetic evening of inspiration! Kicking off the virtual event with a powerful performance, attendees sung along to ‘Together We Rise’, an original song written and performed by multi-talented Girl Be Heard participants.
Later in the evening, five participants had the privilege to interview our 2020 Gala Honoree - actor, producer and activist Viola Davis! With supercharged questions on voting in the current election, redefining beauty in Hollywood, the Black Lives Matter movement, and so much more.
Attendees also heard from some amazing Girl Be Heard celebrity supporters, including Tinashe Kajese-Bolden (Actor/Director - Suicide Quad and Greenleaf), Tonya Pinkins (Actor; GBH Board Member), Kathy Najimy (Actress and Producer), Wendell Pierce (Actor), Sibongile Mlambo (Actor - Lovecraft Country, Lost in Space, Black Sails). Gala host Abbi Crutchfield kept attendees engaged and laughing throughout the night with her comedic charm.
