Amalia Oliva Rojas

Amalia Oliva Rojas is a Mexican poet, performer, theater artivist and educator based in Nueva York. She is a proud alumnus of the Vassar College Powerhouse Theater Apprentice Program and CUNY Lehman College. Recent credits include LEO AND FRIENDS (Theater Accident and The Exposition Review).

Residencies Include Pen America’s DREAMING OUT LOUD writing workshop, New Perspectives Theater Company Women’s Work Short and Full-Length Play Lab, NYU Hemispheric Institute for Performance and Politics, EmergeNYC Program, and most recently, Beam's Center Lighthouse Artist Residency. In addition to her playwriting, Amalia has contributed to several online magazines such as City limits, Popula, La Revista De La Universidad De México. Prior to joining Girl Be Heard, as program coordinator, Amalia helped develop, assess, and structure the Hostos Academic Learning Center and the Title V initiative at Hostos Community College located in the South Bronx.

Amalia brings to GBH extensive experience as a higher education specialist, community organizer, and working artist. She is excited to join the Girl Be Heard team as the Community Partnerships Program Manager!
