A Note from Cloudy With A Chance of F****** Up Teaching Artists:

Today you will be sharing with us an experience in which the youth calibrate their process as artists by developing and devising work that represents ideas, exercises and conversations we have shared together. We begin with topics or themes that are driven by their everyday lives-- fusing their personal check-ins with the curriculum of Girl Be Heard which highlights interrogating power structures and empowering the self and community.

We process our ideas by playing ensemble, improv, writing and acting exercises, the students play and perform their ideas, and we further reflect. Our students were never censored in their forms of expression, which is a pedagogical choice on our part to honor their thoughts and to be able to question them as they arise in a community of artists so that these new learnings can be further explored. What you are seeing today, Cloudy With a Chance of F****** Up, is a culmination of skits, stories and pieces that were birthed through an organic process we built as facilitators whose main priority was to honor the perspectives the students wanted to highlight.
